One place essential oils definitely save me money is on personal care products! I DIY many of the personal care products I used to purchase commercially. They are less expensive and non-toxic yet still effective at giving me the results I want. Here are a few of my favorite DIY’s with essential oils for the bathroom.
DIY Essential Oil Skin Toner

DIY Skin Toner
I created this skin toner recipe about 5 years ago, and still love it. As you can see, I reused an empty 15 mL essential oil bottle, and purchased a spray top that fits. I like to reuse/repurpose whenever I can to save money and save our earth. I typically add 5 drops each of Blue Tansy, Copaiba, Frankincense and Geranium to an empty 15 mL oil bottle and then fill with Witch Hazel.

DIY Mouthwash
DIY Essential Oil Mouthwash
We use a lot of mouthwash at our house. I am obsessed with rinsing out my mouth when I drink things that can stain your teeth like tea, coffee and wine. Most commercial mouthwashes contain harmful ingredients, some of which are known carcinogens. In fact, my son who is in a treatment program can’t use mouthwash, because it contains alcohol. I make this mouthwash recipe in an empty kombucha glass bottle (again repurposing). I do vary this recipe, but the base is 5 drops each of Cassia, Clove, OnGuard, Peppermint and Wild Orange Essential Oils. Fill the bottle with water, and shake before use. This is a very healthy, effective way to clean your mouth and freshen your breath.
DIY Essential Oil Face Serum

DIY Face Serum
My favorite essential oil face serum is a combo of:

Mermaid Hair Spray
DIY Essential Oil Mermaid Spray
I love this easy to make spray for curly hair; some people call this mermaid spray. I vary what I put in this based on my mood and what I have available. I typically put a combo of about 5 drops of Rosemary, Lavender, Tea Tree and Cedarwood Essential oils in a reusable glass spray bottle. I then add about 1/2 teaspoon of Epsom Salts and fill with water. I spray this on damp hair after I shower to encourage curls and minimize frizz.
DIY Essential Oil Eyeglass Cleaner

DIY Eyeglass Cleaner
Eyeglasses seem to be one of the more challenging things to clean clearly. My son wears glasses, and has very limited vision. Keeping his eyeglasses clean is even more important because of his vision deficits.

Bathroom Essential Oil Shelf
I store all of these DIY’s and the rollerball blends and essential oils I use daily on this inexpensive nail polish shelf. It was less than $10 and is the perfect size for essential oil bottles, rollerball bottles and many of my DIY’s.
