Essential oils can be helpful at back-to-school time for many reasons.  We use them to soothe nervous feelings, boost our immune systems and also to help us focus our attention on our studies.  Today I am going to focus on study help (focus and concentration) with essential oils.  doTERRA happens to have 3 products I love as study aids on sale in August, so it’s the perfect time to stock up for the 2020/2021 school year.

Intune Focus Blend

doTERRA has a blend they synergistically made to aid with focus called Intune.  It is a combination of Amyris, Frankincense, Hawaiian Sandalwood, Lime, Patchouli, Roman Chamomile and Ylang Ylang.  The goal of this essential oil is to promote a sense of clarity and focus which is great for students needing to study, teachers needing to prepare lesson plans or grade papers, and workers needing to focus on their work or attend an important meeting.  This blend is especially helpful for those who have difficulty staying on task or paying attention.

My son, Danny has a rare genetic disorder called Cohen Syndrome.   While there are many characteristics of Cohen Syndrome, one issue that Danny has is trouble focusing his attention on anything (except his iPad) for very long.  doTERRA’s Intune blend has been very helpful.  We apply it to the back of Danny’s neck before school.  We also apply sunscreen daily on the back of his neck, because this blend contains lime essential oil (and citrus oils are photosensitive).

I also believe that empowering kids to take control of issues they have, and helping them find natural solutions (with no side effects) is important.  Sending Intune in your child’s back pack helps them know they have something they can try when it feels difficult to concentrate.  The great news is that this Intune blend is 15% off during the month of August, 2020!

Thinker Focus Blend For Kids

doTERRA also makes a focus blends specially formulated and diluted for kids called Thinker.  This rollerball features Clementine, Rosemary, Peppermint and Vetiver essentials oils prediluted with Fractionated Coconut Oil in a 10 ml rollerball.  The rollerball makes it convenient for kids to carry and use when needed.  Adults can use Thinker as well, even though it has been specially diluted with kids in mind.  Thinker is also 15% off in August, and can also be purchased at part of the Kid’s Collection.

doTERRA’s Kid’s Collection contains 7 rollerballs blended for kids including Thinker Focus Blend, Calmer Restful Blend, Rescuer Soothing Blend, Tamer Digestive Blend, Steady Grounding Blend and Brave Courage Blend.  My favorite scent is Brave, and even though it is intended for children, I use it often!  It would be a great choice for kids feeling a little uncertain going back to school this year.  This kit come beautifully packaged in a silicone case with flash cards for kids and convenient silicone toppers with carabiners that kids can attach to their backpacks, purses or belt loops.  It is also discounted below wholesale pricing.

Motivate Encouraging Blend

doTERRA’s Motivate Encouraging Blend is a combination of Basil, Clementine, Coriander, Melissa, Rosemary, Peppermint and Yuzu essential oils diluted in FCO.  The touch rollerball blend is on sale in August at 15% off and comes prediluted in a 10 ml rollerball for easy use.  This blend helps to promote feelings of belief, confidence and courage, so is also a great choice for the first day of school.

I like to apply this blend to Danny’s or my pulse points, over the heart, inner wrist, inner elbow and on the beck.  It can also be helpful to counteract negative emotions of cynicism, doubt and pessimism.  These are feelings we all experience occasionally, and that may be heightened at this uncertain time.  I also like to use this blend when I am having issues getting started with a project or book I need to read.  I feel it helps me stop procrastinating and get moving, and getting started is often the most difficult step.

All three of these blends are wonderful for helping with focus and concentration for work or school.  I hope you give one (or all 3) a try, and I feel confident you will find the perfect fit for you.  Reach out if you wish to try one, and have questions on which might be right for you and your family.
