My son, Danny is a cookie monster! He has always loved cookies, so I have been searching for healthy recipes that he still loves. Danny is gluten-free, and low-sugar. I try to avoid processed foods with him, if at all possible. Here are a few of our favorite essential oil-infused cookie recipes.
Sugar cookies are a must around the holidays, especially Easter and Christmas. Finding a healthy sugar-cookie recipe that isn’t crumbly has been a challenge. We substitute monk fruit for the sugar, and use an all-purpose gluten-free flour (we use the Costco brand). We use about 1/3-1/2 cup monk fruit for a cup of sugar (because monk fruit is sweeter, you can use less). If your flout doesn’t contain Xanthan Gum, you will also want to add a teaspoon.
This cookie recipe calls for Copaiba essential oil and Lime essential oil. In addition to adding flavor, it helps to “healthify” the recipe. Copaiba is known to help support the nervous system and aid in healthy digestion. An added bonus, Copaiba is 15% off September of 2021! Lime supports a healthy immune system and helps you feel energized.
OnGuard Chocolate Chip Cookies
Every kid loves chocolate chip cookies, and Danny is no different. Here is the recipe we like to make. I typically make a large batch and freeze a portion, so that we always have some on hand. OnGuard is doTERRA’s protective blend, and helps to support a healthy immune system.
½ cup coconut oil
½ cup butter
¾ cup raw sugar
½ cup honey
1 teaspoon cocoa
1 tablespoon molasses
3 cups all purpose gluten-free flour
1 cup quick oats
¼ cup chia seeds
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips (we use Enjoy Life brand)
1-3 drops OnGuard Essential Oil
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Combine refrigerated coconut oil and butter, whisk until smooth.
- Once smooth add raw sugar, honey, cocoa, molasses, and egg, mix until creamed together.
- In a separate bowl combine flour, quick oats, chia seeds, baking soda, and salt. Slowly pour into the liquid mixture while mixing.
- Add one cup of chocolate chips and the OnGuard essential oil and mix.
- Scoop 12 cookies onto a cookie sheet and bake for 12 minutes.
If you are looking for a yummy and healthy fall cookie, I highly recommend these pumpkin cookies. We substitute the flour with gluten-free flour and add a teaspoon of Xanthan Gum. Clove and Cinnamon Bark are both in doTERRA’s OnGuard blend, and help to support a healthy immune system. Ginger helps to support healthy digestion.
