My husband is proud of his Irish heritage, and loves everything Irish. So, I thought I’d have a little fun creating some essential oil recipes for his favorite “green” holiday!
Lime Essential Oil Infused Recipes
Adding lime to your favorite dip recipe is an easy way to healthfully flavor your dip for St. Patrick’s Day. Most commercial dips contain less than ideal ingredients or cost a fortune. For a festive fruit dip simply add a few drops of lime essential oil to your favorite plain or vanilla Greek yogurt.
Here is my favorite French onion dip recipe:
- 16 oz organic sour cream
- 1 tsp minced onion flakes
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/8 tsp celery seed
- 1/2 tsp better than bouillon beef flavor
- 1-2 drops doTERRA Lime essential Oil
- Combine all ingredients and mix together well. Best to make ahead and let the spiced mingle prior to serving.
Adding lime essential oil to your favorite beverage is another easy tip for a delicious drink. You can add lime essential oil to your water (always drink out of glass or stainless steel when ingesting eo’s), margarita, mojito, beer, mocktails, or try this delicious lime oil raspberry limeade.
When you drink citrus oils in your water they offer the health benefit of helping your body to gently cleanse or detoxify. The limonene in doTERRA’s lime oil is also known to help boost your mood and ease occasional feelings of unease or stress. I have also found that adding citrus oils to my water helps me drink more water, because I enjoy the light flavor (and I like to vary the essential oil I add to my water, which also varies the flavor and health benefits).
Green Mandarin is another delicious essential oil to try in your water. This lesser known essential oil promotes healthy immune and respiratory function when added to your water or tea. It is also soothing to your nervous system when ingested.
Green Mandarin is delicious in yogurt (coconut or Greek), and adds a nice dash of flavor without any sugar, calories or additives. Try this Green Mandarin Coconut Yogurt recipe as your favorite fruit dip or for breakfast when you add berries and homemade granola. It’s so delicious your kids will never suspect it’s healthy! You can pass if off as a “treat”.

St. Patrick’s Day Traditions
We love to decorate our home and dress up in our green for St. Patrick’s Day. This will be the first year I have thought to “scent” our home for the holiday. My husband’s family always recites the Irish Blessing, “May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face, And rains fall soft upon your fields, And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand.” Do you have a favorite St. Patrick’s Day tradition? If so, please share it in the comments!
