Sleep is so important for our health and well-being yet is elusive to many in our busy, uncertain world. I have tried many things to help me get a good night’s sleep, and some have worked for a short time. However, I feel I have found the magic bullet that works EVERY night!
I take 1 Adaptiv Capsule before bed, along with a Magnesium supplement. Did you know a lack of magnesium can cause sleep issues? I also diffuse either Lavender and Breathe or Lavender and Cedarwood. I tend to alternate between these two duos.
Adaptiv capsules are fairly new from doTERRA, and have quickly become a customer favorite. These “Calming Capsules” are a proprietary blend of botanicals (Ahiflower oil, GABA and Sceletium extract) and essential oils (Coriander, Fennel and Wild Orange) that help people adapt to new or stressful situations and adjust to new surroundings. Taken daily, they can help you manage tension, worry and uneasiness. These capsules support cognitive function and promote emotional balance while helping you remain calm and positive.
While their primary benefit is to help calm you during times of tension, I have found the added bonus of these capsules promoting a restful night’s sleep. These capsules are available individually or discounted in a trio like the graphic. I have been sleeping 7-9 hours/night straight through for about 3 months after adding these capsules to my nightly routine!
Bedtime Diffuser Blends
I love diffusing essential oils, and I love to vary the scents I use. However, I have found that the duo of Lavender and Cedarwood or Lavender and Breathe essential oils work best for me (at least right now). Lavender makes me think of “all things calming” — calming for the skin, emotions and senses. I like to start lavender in my diffuser about 20-30 minutes before bed, if I remember. Otherwise, I simply turn my diffuser on as I climb into bed at night.
Cedarwood is know for creating a comforting and relaxing environment, which is what makes it a great choice for bedtime. This oil has been used since Biblical times, and is referenced in the Bible. I love how it pairs with Lavender to create a peaceful room. The woodsy scent of the Cedarwood balances out the floral scent of the Lavender.
Breathe essential oil helps with all-things-respiratory. I feel it helps to keep my airways open, which helps to promote restful sleep. I especially like this blend during the winter months. If you have a noisy sleeper (someone who breathes loudly or even snores), Breathe can be especially helpful. The duo of Lavender and Breathe is delightful by combining floral and mint scents. My son, Danny, especially likes this combo in his nighttime diffuser.
If you are looking for sleep help without any side effects, I recommend you give these calming capsules and diffuser blends a try. You have nothing to lose, except for feeling tired and crabby. New to oils? Here is a bundle to get you started on the path to great sleep!
